Pre and post injury therapeutic massage
Quiet your mind. Ease your spirit.
I came to massage from an intense interest in ballet, yoga and outdoor adventuring that started in my youth.
These hobbies lead me to massage for my own self care and to becoming a therapist myself. I am fascinated by all the ways that a body can move, balance and be strong. My work as a therapist focuses heavily in these areas as a result. I graduated from Port Townsend School of Massage in 2014, and then pursued an advanced certification in orthopedic massage from the same school. As a result my massage practice tends towards postural balancing, injury prevention and rehabilitation and both pre and post orthopedic surgery support. That having been said I also enjoy doing relaxation massage that will make you drool, and Thai massage for those that want to try something new.
I have practiced at the same location in Poulsbo since 2015, first in the lower suite with Vera Massage and Day Spa and now in the upper suite following our expansion and grand reopening as Poulsbo Day Spa in the fall of 2019.

Hi, my name is Matthew McCourry. I graduated from the Port Townsend School of Massage in the Summer of 2014. That Autumn I started my own Massage practice focusing on serving my clients through sessions customized to their needs. I use a combination of relaxation, injury treatment, range of motion, stretching and strengthening techniques. The techniques I use come from Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, and Clinical Treatment therapies.
I have gained a lot of benefits from massage. In my personal journey I have felt a lot of relief from my military PTSD and I've seen improvements in my body and mind. In my body, I have better kinaesthetic awareness, more flexibility, increased suppleness, and greater strength. This has led to improvements in both my Aikido (Martial Arts) practice, my general athleticism, and my daily life. With my mind, the postural release, body connection and ease of movement has created healthier relationships, a greater peace of mind, and an ability to see life in a more holistic fashion.
Having this bodywork and massage practice allows me to help my clients restore their body's movement, ease and function. Doing so, allows space for relief from pain, anxiety, and stress. This helps my clients get the benefits that I've received from massage, while increasing the wholeness, health and joy in their own bodies and lives.
